Christmas Eve - 2006

Nothing original, just this, courtesy of St. Francis of Assisi:

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace;
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.

Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.

For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to eternal life.

Amen.

And, courtesy of my very dear friend and long-lost sister, Bev Sykes, here's the pointer to the Bowie/Crosby version of "The Little Drummer Boy." It doesn't matter what you believe, it's just a good time of the year to look for all the little miracles in each of our lives.

we drove down to portland to my cousin's. my mom had clearly been dying to check out ron and she seemed pleased. (she gave us both money, the gift everyone can use) my asshole cousin and the rest of the family were crazy per usual, but the food was fabu and we had a great time. (and just knowing it will be 364 days before we have to see any of these people again is like Another Christmas Present)

Hope you had a good one.

That sounds like it was okay. Or, at least, it could've been a lot worse.

I sent my sister an e-mail yesterday thanking her for the best xmas present of all... a loving family to spend the day with.

Now I just need a condo and a boyfriend and my life will be perfect, just like YOURS (except I'll never make a decent etouffee... I should've married you when I had the chance).

yeah, you should have. LOL. and we do Not have a condo. we have a smallish relatively crappy apartment. and no job for the moment, since this time a year groceries don't do resets.

Well, if you HAD married me you'd still be living in crappy apartments AND to make matters worse, you would've had to have suffered through the worst years of my drinking until I got sober.

Then you'd get to sit around home every night while I'd be out running around with all my sober buddies, carrying the message to the still sick and suffering alcoholics all over the state.

Count your blessings, Alan. You've been spared. HAH!
